I’m toying with the idea of creating memes with cropped images of my original art. This is from Shifted, alcohol inks on Yupo, 2021.

The original is ACEO size, 2.5 x 3.5 inches. To create the meme, I snapped a photo, then edited the file with GIMP.

I’m not sure what rules apply for creating memes, just going by an observation that squares don’t need tapped to view when memes come across my feed. I also figured file size might be an issue, so I cropped & scaled the image before exporting as a jpg.

Should I make more? I posted this meme on my Mice4Mars Facebook page, which sorely lacks followers (my own family ignores it, too) so odds are, it won’t receive many likes or shares. Oh well, doesn’t matter. My joy is in the making. Thanks for reading!

KB Blues

An ACEO for my cousin, Ken Barnes, in his favorite blues. Alcohol inks on YUPO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

This is a rare piece in that I honored his request to sign it with my name instead of just my artist symbol. I haven’t signed my name to any artwork in darn near 30 years!

It’s signed on the lower left because there was no way I’d mark over the pareidolia going on in the right corner.

Yes, I learned a new word that accurately describes what’s going on in most of my art. Thank you KB! And thank you, dear blog readers, for visiting this blog.

Third time’s a charm… bit more intense, too. Alcohol inks on heavy 144 lb (390 gsm) Yupo paper, 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

The weather turned so it will be awhile before I can play with the inks again. Yes, I read labels. A lot of art mediums are toxic. I haven’t broke out the gloves yet, but I do open windows and avoid smoking while working with liquids that have flammable fumes and low flash points. So does nail polish remover, but I don’t get lost and spend hours zoned into doing my nails like I do when I’m making art.

Okay sister, roll your eyes. She knows I don’t bother with girly primp n’ shit. It’s a waste of time. Painted nails on me get chipped to hell and back within 24 hours.

Well, I should get busy. Enjoy your day and thanks for reading!
